HHonors members will be happy, as they can use their points to stay in what sounds like will be a fantastic hotel. The only drawback for tourists- it will be built in Barra da Tijuca, a suburb of Rio, which is far from Ipanema and Copacabana Beach. By 2016, it should just be a short Metro ride to these beaches.

Swiss pilot and inventor Yves Rossy took to the skies over Rio de Janeiro Wednesday using a carbon-kevlar jet pack. Nicknamed “the Jetman,” Rossy jumped from a helicopter hovering over the city, flew around its historic landmarks, and landed on Copocabana beach. Rossy was the first person in the world to fly using a jet-powered wing. He invented the jet pack himself, and made his first successful flight over the Swiss Alps in 2008.

Cariocas and visitors alike have the opportunity to visit such classic haunts as Bar do Mineiro in Santa Teresa and try "Tira-gosto à moda do Volpi " (an eggplant dish); Bar Palhinha in Humaita for "Costelinha ao barbecue com anéis de cebola" (BBQ beef spare ribs with onions); or Bar do David in the small favela Chapéu Mangueira , in Leme for "Croquete de frutos do mar " (seafood croquettes). The boteco food is excellent and is reasonably priced. Relax with a beer or caipirinha and soak up the atmosphere of these neighborhood bars.
