Rio de Janeiro Internet Cafes

Tips for Bringing your Laptop to Brazil

Internet cafes are abundant in the neighborhoods of Ipanema and Copacabana Beach. Unless you need your laptop in Brazil for business, or want to check security web cams back home, it's best not to bring it along on your Rio de Janeiro vacation. Also, most hotels have free internet access on computers in the lobby.

If you do bring a laptop on your Rio de Janeiro vacation, keep it stashed in a backpack and close to you at all times. Make sure your hotel room or rental apartment has a safe, and lock it away whenever you leave the room. A laptop will fit inside most hotel room or apartment safes. Find out ahead of time if your accommodation will have internet access in the room or if there is an internet access location nearby.

Internet Cafe in Wollner Outdoor clothing store - Ipanema Internet cafes are located throughout the tourist areas, along the main streets of Visconde de Piraja in Ipanema, and along Avenida NS Copacabana in Copacabana. Some are located in bookstores or shops, and other spots are just for international telephone and Internet access. The cost ranges from about $R 5 - $R 8 per hour.
