We had hoped that by now the city government would have installed a Rio de Janeiro webcam atop both Sugarloaf Mountain and at Christ the Redeemer Statue, on Corcovado Mountain. Web cams at each of these sightseeing locations would afford phenomenal views of the city, the beaches, the ocean, and the beautiful lush mountains that surround the area. But alas, Brazil is still a developing nation and funds for such ventures are limited. Now that Brazil is hosting the 2014 World Cup soccer finals and the 2016 Summer Olympics, we hope that a Rio de Janeiro webcam will soon be placed at several locations throughout the city.
